How to use color wheel for home decor?Living Room

Every good interior decorator knows that the home decor space is divided into 60-30-10. This rule means 60 forms the dominant color of the walls, 30 is the secondary color, typically for the upholstery, and 10 is an accent color used for accessories. This ratio helps maintain balance.There are 12 segments on the color wheel, each one representing a color. The wheel shows how colors relate to each other, whether they’re side by side or diametrically opposite.

Structurally, the wheel includes the three primary colors of red, yellow and blue, alongside three secondary colors, green, orange and purple (where two primaries are mixed together to form another). 

Finally, there are six tertiary colors, a mix of a primary and secondary color. These are red-orange, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, blue-purple and red-purple. 

The warm colors – the reds, yellows and pinks – feature on one side. You’ll find the cooler hues – blues, greens and purples, on the other.
